Born in 1977, having studied journalism, Pierre Olivier began working in reportage photography (self-taught) in 1999.
He collaborated for many years with prestigious agencies like Imapress, Alamo, Visual, but above all Gamma for whom he covered social events, French politics and French artistic milieus. Gradually abandoning the world of agencies, he spent several stints in Japan and in 2007 decided to move there, living in Tokyo for almost two years as a correspondent for the French press. During this time he specialized in personality portraits, pursuing his offbeat view of the world around him.
Since 2009, Pierre Olivier spends part of the year in France, and the rest in Japan or Asia travelling essentially on commissions for large companies, TV networks or French or Japanese magazines.
Based in Paris and Tokyo, he speaks French, Japanese and English.
